Thin Strings 03:51
It’s so late at night, but you can’t sleep cause of a fight. (Oh that’s right) The things you said never meant to leave your mouth. (No they’re not) Looking back’s the only way you can see right now. (Oh right now) Sun is up again, you’re tired, you cried the whole night through. You can’t see it ‘cause your eyes are closed. But there’s a rainbow in the sky for you. You can’t see it ‘cause your eyes are closed. But there’s a rainbow in the sky for you. The pain in your chest, a heart held together with thin strings. Fragile to the touch you pick yourself up. Grab a cup of coffee. Wipe away those dried tears, you’re gonna try to Make it through the day. You can’t see it ‘cause your eyes are closed. But there’s a rainbow in the sky for you. You can’t see it ‘cause your eyes are closed. But there’s a rainbow in the sky for you. You open your eyes to see it, So dry up those tears and move on now.

We're Young 02:37
We’re young, and we’re doing something with it. We’re doing something with it, if they let us. We’re young, and we’re doing something with it. We’re doing something with it, if they let us. On and on we go, we talked all night. And on and on we go. We talked all night. And on and on we go. Our words won’t change their lives. We’re not gonna waste it, through all of this temptation. We will define ourselves. All the He said (She said), but they’re still watching the clock. And the time rolling by... We’ve arrived! There’s nothing that can stop us. So, step aside or help us. We’re wiser everyday. We’ll never bow before them; we will climb this mountain Will we get to the top? We’re young, and we’re doing something with it. We’re doing something with it, if they let us. We’re young, and we’re doing something with it. We’re doing something with it, if they let us. On and on we go, we talked all night. And on and on we go. We talked all night. And on and on we go. Our words won’t change their lives.

Have you forgotten who you are? Oh, is there a reason you must work so hard? (Work so hard) Is this where you wanted to be? Once full of promise, you once had a dream. You had vision. (You had vision.) Become one with the land again. Rediscover yourself and build with your hands. Awaken what your childhood stood for and listen to the rain. Have you already thrown in the towel? What would your younger self think of you now? (Think of you now) You're doing what you need to survive. In doing so you'll never quite feel alive. You had vision. (You had vision.) Become one with the land again. Rediscover yourself and build with your hands. Awaken what your childhood stood for and listen to the rain. Take your hat and place it on the shelf. There's no use for it now. Untie your shoes and take them off your feet. These are things you'll no longer need. Become one with the land again. Rediscover yourself and build with your hands. Awaken what your childhood stood for and listen to the rain.

You're kicking back a few with the best of friends. Without a care, you do whatever you're able. You can't feel your hands or your toes. You stumble where you can. If you fall down, they will pick you up. On friends you can depend. You see trouble accross the bar but you've had one too many to care. Your friends get up as you begin to watch the angry son. He gets in everybody's way and he throws around his weight. You hear him yell 'cause you're at his favorite table. You can't feel your hands or your toes. You stumble where you can. If you fall down, they will pick you up. On friends you can depend. You stand up and you put up your hands. You're a big man. OOOOooooooh. His fist comes out to meet your face, but you hit the ground first. You look around just to see everyone laughing. Ha! Ha! Out of nowhere he drops to the ground with a shower of glass. Next thing you know, your over a shoulder and out the door. You can't feel your hands or your toes. You stumble where you can. If you fall down, they will pick you up. On friends you can depend. On friends you can depend.

I've Won 03:27
On a bright summer day in the park Under refreshing shade of the bark I sit, I ponder, and I think about this life, but that's not all. I dream of memories I've had and memories yet to come. That's when I saw an image that I can't recover from. Then I saw her perfect face and I know that she's the one. Then I saw her smiling at me and I know that I have won. I was standing there minding my own business when suddenly she appeared out of the blue. She saw me. I looked away. My face was red as a fire, but not just any fire. I look back at her. She looks away. I don't wanna stare, but I do. Our eyes they lock and sparks they flew. When I see her perfect face, I know that she's the one. When I see her smiling at me, I know that I have won. I wouldn't blame her if she'd walk away. But she's looking at me and she's coming my way. I can't say a word. She sits and then she rests her head on me. When I see her perfect face, I know that she's the one. When I see her smiling at me, I know that I have won.

My fingers dance on the fretboard. My voice fills the air. My song it touches all the people out there. With my honest reflection, I wouldn't change a thing. This feeling is what I live for all the people they live for it too. Don't you? If I think that my heart is turning black Well I hold onto the music and go. All these people I sing for well, I love them all. It might sound strange, but it makes me feel alive. My fingers dance on the fretboard. My voice fills the air. My song it touches all the people out there. With my honest reflection, I wouldn't change a thing. This feeling is what I live for all the people they live for it too. Don't you? Don't you live for it too?

In Time 03:22
All day, I am pulling in so many directions. I don't even know where I am. All I need is some kind of relax- -ation rest these weary bones. All this runnin' 'round I do because I don't want to give up anything. Though I know I can't do everything. Tired eyes and tired lines making up my every day. Can I even do anything? I feel, that I may need to lose my schedule somewhere in the depths of time. When I, do I feel that I can find a stressless, happy, and peacful life. All this runnin' 'round I do because I don't want to give up anything. Though I know I can't do everything. Tired eyes and tired lines making up my every day. Can I even do anything? Pushing, Pulling. Our lives can slip away between lines. Never hold back. Everything settles in time. Pushing, Pulling. Our lives can slip away. All this runnin' 'round I do because I don't want to give up anything. Though I know I can't do everything. Tired eyes and tired lines making up my every day. Can I even do anything? All day, I am pulling in so many directions. I don't even know where I am.

These people in their suits A patriotic grin Trapped underneath their boots Can we get up again? This whole big world has changed, so don't look back my friend. If we live in the past, our failures will begin. Well I am not convinced we'll get to where we were So go and meet your friends, they're washed up on the curb. This whole big world has changed, so don't look back my friend. If we live in the past, our failures will begin. Backroom deals and phony cash turns into a hive. Rewarded when indebted then ruining our lives. We've got to be the best; better than we were When money moves on wires, our apathy can kill. This whole big world has changed, so don't look back my friend. If we live in the past, our failures will begin.

I'll never be like everyone else 'cause I am no forgery. Letting things flow, and taking things slow, is what this life means to me. I'll never become you. You'll never become me. We will all grow from what we know and all of our victories. Every one that passes me by is leaving me noticing That our happiness is lost whenever we're hurrying. Let's take this chance to slow down, and take our seat upon the ground. Bend back and stare at the sun, our lives have just begun. Don't sell your self too short. or make yourself distort. this world has nothing but envy for the kinds of things you can do. I'll never be like everyone else 'cause I am no forgery. Letting things flow, and taking things slow, is what this life means to me. I'll never become you. You'll never become me. We will all grow from what we know and all of our victories. I just sit back, smile, and wave as they try to pin me down. into their little box. But I'm quite the fox. I'll put on a tie if it'll distract the eye from who I really am. This is who I am! We should care if they're out there stifling all our fun. I'll never become you. You'll never become me. We will all grow from what we know and all of our victories. Every one that passes me by is leaving me noticing. That our happiness is lost whenever we're hurrying. Let's take this chance to slow down, and take our seat upon the ground. Rusty 03:47
I am half a world away You are where you’re from. I am coming to my home. I am Ohio. With these Lights, And the smell of the air, A flood of memories comes to my mind. I still care. The places I could go, But the sights I already know. These bricks can build you a house, But that don’t make it a home. It’s all the same. (It’s all the same) If it’s all the same to you, I’s like to see some different scenes, See some different views. It’s all the same. (It’s all the same) If it’s all the same to you, I’s like to see some different scenes, See some different views. All the people I know, Tell me they’ve outgrown their shell. They fill their heads with dreams, That they have to leave. As time passes by, They realize it’s all just a lie. You can change the air; you can change the plains, Truth is those are just things. The places I could go, But the sights I already know. These bricks can build you a house, But that don’t make it a home. Like copper to a penny, This place loses its shine. If ignorance is happiness, I will be happy all the time. It’s all the same. (It’s all the same) If it’s all the same to you, I’s like to see some different scenes, See some different views. It’s all the same. (It’s all the same) If it’s all the same to you, I’s like to see some different scenes, See some different views. The places I could go, But the sights I already know. These bricks can build you a house, But that don’t make it a home.

about

Cinder Home began simply, as most music does, between two friends with the thoughts of having fun and playing a bit of music. The talented duo quickly morphed into something much more. Instead of keeping pace with previous projects, ideas of playing music they could enjoy rapidly took root. It all became about strumming their ideas out into the world. As the folk project of Gabriel Cotrell and Calvin Garber began to grow, it took on new members. Meredith Miles, Shawn Zerkle, and Chris Witham soon completed the puzzle. Influenced by Mumford and Sons, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Avett Brothers, and Sigur Ros, the band classifies themselves as bluegrass roots with new age folk.
